International Conference on Peer Education, Sexuality, HIV&AIDS

National Organization of Peer Educator's (NOPE) is the proud organizer of the International Conference on Peer Education, Sexuality, HIV&AIDS. This year the conference is celebrating its ten year anniversary.   The goal of the conference is to promote the role of peer educators and other stakeholders in scaling up HIV prevention to address emerging issues using evidence-based interventions.

The conference will take place in Nairobi, Kenya in mid-June 2010 and will include  a Youth Pre-Conference.  The Youth Pre-Conference is a two day workshop that will be held on 14th and 15th of June 2010, and aims to prepare young people for meaningful and active participation at the conference. The Pre-Conference offers an opportunity to network, as well as to equip the youth delegates with specific advocacy skills in preparation for the main conference. This will include coaching on how to ask specific and constructive questions during the conference, how to approach adults experts and get commitment for issues.

Several organizations are partnering with NOPE to make this conference happen, including Family Health International (FHI), I Choose Life (ICL) Africa, G.R.A.C.E. Africa, Pathfinder International, Y-PEER and more.

A number of well-known decision makers, scientists and advocates, along with young people with proven records of dedication and commitment to HIV/AIDS prevention, will participate in the event as speakers.
